LTLB Envirotecture is an architecture and design firm that primarily focuses on specialized sustainable commercial work, new certified green homes, residential additions, existing home retrofits for aging in place clients, and providing rater services for a multitude of green building program projects. Overall, through our team, we currently have over one thousand energy ratings, energy audits, and green building certifications combined. Also, each of our senior team members have at least over 25 years experience with building science and within the building industry.

Currently, the firm has over 20+ active LEED for Homes projects or other projects pursuing certifications through other programs. One of the projects is a large 132 unit development that is pursuing multiple certifications such as National Green Building Standard Certification, LEED for Homes, Energy Star, and Builder's/DOE Challenge (Now Zero Energy Ready Home). Another project is the "Built to Last: The Green Home".

LTLB Envirotecture is also a corporate member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and through predecessor companies, has been so since October of 2000.

Ms. Blissard holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in architecture from the University of Illinois and has built a successful 25-year+ practice in the design and construction of buildings, homes, and interiors. She is also a licensed architect in Illinois & Wisconsin as well as having received approval for reciprocal licensure designation in every state except California via NCARB certification (Certificate #62455). Additionally, as a licensed architect, she can provide interior design services anywhere in the country. Other accreditations & certifications include RESnet Energy Rater (RTIN #6768035), LEED AP BD+C, LEED AP HOMES, and USGBC LEED® Faculty™. Currently Laureen is also one of the few fully certified Green Raters in the State of Illinois that resides in Illinois as well as having been the State's first certified Green Rater.

A Founding member and Past Chair of the Illinois Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, Laureen has retired as the chapter's Governance committee Chair as of December 2013 after serving many years and was the 2010 recipient of the USGBC Illinois Chapter's Leadership Award. Additionally, she serves as a residential green building advocate which entails numerous public speaking engagements on behalf of the chapter and was subsequently the 2011 recipient of the USGBC Illinois Chapter's "Green Speak" Award.

Additionally, Laureen serves in the capacity of Technical Director for the Green Builder® Coalition. The Coalition is a national non-profit organization dedicated to achieving balance and harmony between the built and natural environments. It has been created as a new platform to provide a common voice for those devoted to sustainable living. Current activities include working with National USGBC and several other partners to speak on behalf of the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) as well as helping to promote a baseline residential green construction code. Additionally, the organization is working in partnership in the development of a sustainable recovery handbook that considers disaster resistant construction. In her role as the technical director, Laureen provides technical advice and specifications in the construction of green homes and buildings with an emphasis on the efficiency of the thermal envelope.

James Cavallo, Ph.D.

Jim Cavallo directs Midwest Energy Performance Analytics, Inc. (MwEPA). He is a RESNET certified home energy rater and BPI credentialed building analyst and shell specialist. Through MwEPA, he consults on building performance improvements through energy efficiency and performs energy ratings and audits throughout the Midwest.

Jim holds a Ph.D. in economics from New York University, and was on the research staff at Argonne National Laboratory before starting his own company. His research and consulting focuses on pollution prevention through energy efficiency, the development of healthy affordable housing, and the diffusion of sustainable technologies.

He has been an associate editor of Home Energy Magazine and is a board member of the Illinois Association of Energy Raters and Home Performance Professionals. Jim also teaches weatherization staff and contractors in the Illinois weatherization certification program, is a BPI proctor, and teaches on topics of energy efficiency and buildings at conferences and to client staff.

Jack Pickett

Structural Engineer, P.E.

In memoriam: Jack was a WW2 veteran but more importantly, a wonderful mentor and friend. We will truly miss his construction expertise and life wisdom. [06/26/1925 - 11/10/2019]

Before founding Pickett Engineering, Inc. in 1967, Jack Picket was an associate with the engineering firm of Maccabee Associates, Inc., and chief engineer for Case International, a foundation contracting firm.

Mr. Pickett holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska and a master's degree in civil engineering from Northwestern University. He has more than 50 years of experience in the design and review of steel and reinforced concrete structures, bridges, multistory office buildings, industrial and special-purpose buildings and foundations.

Mr. Pickett has been a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois and the American Concrete Institute. He is registered as a professional, civil and structural engineer in multiple states including Illinois and Wisconsin.

Mr. Blissard holds a Bachelor's degree in education from Arkansas State University and has built a successful, long career in the education industry. Over the past 20 years or so, while an educator, he has completed renovations and provided handyman services to associates and former employers within the construction industry. The majority of the projects are small in scale and has led to the formation of LTLB Renovate

Paul is currently pursuing accreditation within the LEED for Homes program as a Green Rater and the NGBS program.
